Private & On-Site Instruction

Professional Training on Your Own Ground.

Don’t have time to head to a public range? Prefer to train in a familiar, private environment? Lone Star Legacy comes to you.

We offer premium, one-on-one or small-group instruction at your private residence or ranch. This service is ideal for families, neighborhood groups, or individuals who want a customized training schedule tailored specifically to their property and defensive needs.

The On-Site Advantage:

  • Property-Specific Tactics: We can evaluate your home or land layout and help you develop a realistic “Home Defense Plan” using your actual surroundings.
  • Complete Privacy: Train without the distractions or noise of a crowded public range.
  • Custom Curriculum: Whether it’s fundamental safety for the kids or advanced tactical drills for yourself, we build the lesson plan around your goals.
  • Safety First: We conduct a professional safety evaluation of your shooting area before training begins to ensure a secure environment for you and your neighbors.

Ideal for: Families, Business Owners, and Ranchers in the Spring Branch, Bulverde, and New Braunfels areas.

Pricing Tip for Private Training:

As an Instructor traveling to your location, I charge a flat rate RangeMaster fee of between $200 and $400 for a half-day, plus a small per-person fee if there are multiple students.

Private Property Range Safety Requirements

To ensure the safety of students, neighbors, and instructors, the following standards must be met before any live-fire training begins on private land.

The Backstop (Impact Area):

  • Composition: Must be a natural hillside or a man-made berm of clean dirt/sand.
  • Height: Minimum of 8 feet high for handgun training.
  • Condition: Must be free of large rocks, cross-ties, or debris that could cause ricochets.
  • Depth: If using a man-made berm, it must be thick enough to fully capture all projectiles (typically 3–4 feet of settled earth).

Surface & Layout

  • Surface: The shooting line and the area between the shooter and the target must be clear of tall dry grass, brush, or trip hazards.
  • Direction: Shooting must be conducted in a direction that ensures a minimum “safety fan” of 1,000 yards of uninhabited land behind the backstop, or a backstop of sufficient size to negate that need.
  • Distance: We require a minimum of 15–25 yards of clear, flat space to conduct standard defensive drills safely.

Surroundings & Legalities

  • Acreage: Property must meet local county or municipal requirements for discharging firearms (typically 10+ acres in unincorporated areas of Comal/Bexar County, though specific HOA or city rules may vary).
  • Neighbors: Clients are responsible for ensuring that neighbors are aware of training sessions to avoid noise complaints or unnecessary emergency calls.
  • Access: The training area must be accessible by a standard vehicle in case of medical necessity.

Safety Equipment on Site

  • Medical: As a retired Combat Medic, I provide a full Level II Trauma Kit on-site for every session.
  • Communication: Reliable cell service or a radio must be available at the range location.
  • Cease-Fire: The instructor has absolute authority. Any “Cease Fire” called by anyone must be obeyed immediately.

Upon arrival, I will conduct a Range Safety Walk-Through. If the backstop or layout does not meet professional safety standards, we will adjust the setup or relocate the training to a local commercial range. Safety is our primary legacy.
